Experience
Tutoring/teaching experience: 3 years of tutoring at Ivy League Tutoring, Chicago, IL; tutored ages 4-adult in subjects including writing (through college), mathematics (through Calculus A/B), and test prep (ACT, SAT, GRE, and GED). 2010-2012. 1 year freelance virtual tutoring in the above subjects, 2012-2013. 6 months teaching English as a Foreign Language in Lima, Peru (2009-2010). 6 years teaching music theory and history at the college level at Harvard University (2014-2020) and the University of Minnesota (2012-2014) - Test scores: SAT: 750 math, 750 verbal GRE: 790 math, 710 verbal - I love working one-on-one with students of all ages to find the approaches to material that best suit their learning styles. It's especially exciting when a student has been struggling with a concept and skill and it suddenly "clicks." While my current degree work is in music history and theory and my most recent teaching experience has been with undergraduate students in this field, I also have 4 years of experience and a lot of passion in teaching math through Algebra 2 and critical reading and writing skills at all levels.

Hobbies
When I'm not teaching or working on my doctoral dissertation, I love spending time outdoors rock climbing, cycling, and hiking. I have found that the critical thinking skills attained through my studies help with in-the-moment risk management in these contexts. I also enjoy journaling, creative writing, and cooking.
